Ant should not be a “talent scout”. I believe that in order to scout for talent, you yourself should be in possession of some. When Last Comic Standing announced Ant, a very forgettable runner up from a couple seasons ago, I thought for sure this season would be a disaster. The next 15 minutes of the show didn’t help matters. They showcase the worst of the worst right off the bat. Perhaps it’s to keep the general public watching? To kind of trick them into thinking this is some kind of American Idol or America’s got talent train wreck show? I’m not sure.

As the show continued, New York was not so well represented and my skepticism increased. Are the majority of real comics refusing to jump on this bandwagon? I mean, New York is the birthplace of comedy and THESE people are the remains? To make matters worse, the judges made their worst decisions on this first stop, passing over some genuine stand ups for some remotely TV friendly, good looks.

Since this season is “International” the next stop was Montreal, Canada. When I hear international, Canada comes to my mind as well. These comics had some quality material and the good ones got through. Continuing on the international talent search, Texas was next on the list. This stop had the best comics of the night and all the winners can stand on their own. However, there were two very funny people who should not have been overlooked, Robert Hawkins & Roy Wood Jr.. These are people whose acts I can’t wait to hear.

This hack named Ant, still infuriates me; but overall I was pleasantly surprised at the genuine funnyness of the majority of these comics. Now if they can only do away with those staple reality show moments that make reality shows so bad. The long pauses, “and the winner is…”, the worthless corporate sponsored audience participation (The Capitol One $1,000 free comic pass of the night, go straight to Hollywood and bypass elimination audience choice award) and stick to comedy, they’d have themselves a much better show. I have, however, accepted that this will not happen. After all, this is season 5 already and unfortunately for us, they’re sticking with this genericly boring TV format.

well said. You are 100 percent correct when you say REAL comedians dont want to participate in such a show. – Ant is a terrible part of this poor excuse of a television program. He says nothing and does nothing even remotely interesting or humorous. The show would be better if they just took the comedians they “discover” (who are mostly comedians who have development deals with NBC and NBC affiliates in the first place) and just give them half hour specials

God, I love Ant…I thought he was the best part of the show along with Kathleen…what planet are you from?

I though the dude from Harlem with the ghetto jokes was funny as hell, and was surprised that he didn’t make it.

ant is now a Vh1 staple… figures he would show up there one more time.

Last Comic Standing used to be the only reality TV show I could even remotley stand..

I missed it. I’ll have to check my local listings.
