The first stop was San Francisco where we parked our rented RV amongst other travelers in Candlestick RV Park, surely a bustling section of town when the 49′ers are home.
Three nights in SF was enough to do some things we hadn’t had a chance to do on our previous visits, Alcatraz Island and AT&T Park.

At the End of May, 2008, Susan and I packed our remaining possessions into a 300 square foot moving pod. Larger than some New York apartments, we had spent the previous year scaling back on everything we owned. I read somewhere that a good way to keep clutter down is to get rid of 3 items every time you bring home a single item. It works.
The stuff was to travel via truck and arrive on the east coast well before we did. We were to follow a similar route, but not until a couple of weeks in a rented RV, and a few more weeks in our, third party roof rack equipped, Suzuki.
The highly planned and anticipated departure from our temporarily adopted, California lifestyle and home, was under way.

Susan & I weren’t able to attend, but my sister and her fiancee were able to catch Mark looking like Ryan Seacrest and behaving like Joan Rivers. There’s a couple more snapshots on Flickr.
I snagged the pics from my soon-to-be brother in law, Brian, who blogged all about it on: Live from Rodney Drive.

Some photos of the new 2Advanced office, which coincidentally are the same walls that buy.com began in.

Here’s a map of one of the several fires that are burning in CA. Our apartment is the green thumbtack. It looks like the firemen are doing a good job of keeping it out of the populated areas.

My cable bill has been a consistent $145 a month and I really think it’s time to scale back. I whipped up a little spreadsheet to see my potential savings over the next 7 months, my time frame for packing up & moving east.
The savings quickly adds up:

Today is the last of my final days at Sole Technology. I’ve left for a couple of different reasons, the main being the ironic twist that this skateboarding company is the most corporate of gigs I’ve ever experienced.
Our web department has had tons of freedom in guiding all the brands online, deciding what was best, and executing the way we knew best. It was tons of fun applying technologies that usually only exist in nerd communities to practical use in a non nerd setting.

A new addition to my sweaterbox.net workspace is this wooden drafting table and very adjustable lamp. Amazingly sturdy & smooth, respectively, for the years they have behind them.

My sister’s play, “Dancing at Lughnasa” opens this weekend at Theatre West in LA. It runs from Jan 26 to March 10 and there’s a delicious pre-show dinner spot right next door (10% off w/ your tickets to the show)! I saw Heather in this play a couple of months ago, and while the script does involve rape & heartbreak (it’s most definitely a drama), watching live theatre is really quite an experience, especially with the talent in this one.
