I’ve zipped up Some iPhone wallpapers for your pleasure: iphone-wallpapers.zip. Download & Sync em w/ your phone, like any good hipster would.
You can preview all these wallpapers on Flickr, in my iPhone Wallpaper Set. iPhones rule.
I recently had to schedule some blood work for a physical and was blown away to find an “Add To My Google Calendar” button on the confirmation page.
Usually, if I physically rent a movie from my local blockbuster I need to remember to remove it from my Blockbuster.com rental queue. To my suprise, when I went to do just that I was welcomed with this little screen that says “Hey, you just rented this, maybe you’d like to remove it from your queue.” Why yes Blockbuster, I would - and please do this for me in the future!
By the way, as you might expect, I think I love My Wife isn’t very good, even if you are a Chris Rock fan.
A new addition to my sweaterbox.net workspace is this wooden drafting table and very adjustable lamp. Amazingly sturdy & smooth, respectively, for the years they have behind them.
We recently relaunched two very outdated sites:
“The Sole Technology Institute or ‘STI’ is the world’s first and only scientific sports research lab dedicated to the study of action sports.”…
Yes, the Mets lost game seven in dramatic fashion, with Beltran not protecting the plate. Bases loaded, 2 strikes & he’s not protecting the plate? Very upsetting, but time to move on. They gave Met fans a great season & will make victory that much sweeter. Mets in 2007!
And now for Internet Explorer Seven. The simplest way ever to upgrade to IE 7 without losing 6 is as follows:
Upgrade to Seven as if you could care less about six. Then use this multiple IE installer to get IE six back. Works like a charm, especially if neither version of IE will be your main browser & used primarily for testing. The only difference I can see right now is that IE 6 now uses the new Quartz rendering that comes with IE 7 to make it’s fonts pretty, as if you were on a mac. I just did this this morning, so there may be some Inaccuracies, but I have already seen my 7 & 6 standalone versions rendering CSS correctly & incorrectly respectively.
I hear the Microsoft auto updates, which I imagine most IT departments have in place, will push IE 7 on users in November some time. It’ll be interesting to see the stats on browser versions when that happens.
Update: I am seeing what appear to be bugs in the IE 6 rendering, for example, ignoring an entire page of code for no apparent reason. Still can be useful for IE 6 testing, but may always want to break out that old ass laptop that has an original IE 6 for a more thorough test.
I was passed along a message to have a look at the next trend in web site site development, MGMgrand.com. It looks nice sure, but what’s so special? At first I ignored everything on the home page & went straight for the main navigation. Loading messages everywhere, boxes sliding around, flash is so unfriendly. Several clicks later, I finally see some legitimate info I can try to digest.
Great, there’s photo tours that max out at 3 pics. I went back to the home page to see what I must be missing. Turns out to be the “Enter Maximum Vegas” button leading to a really slick video. That’s it.
Jody says the video “captures the experience”, hence the next big thing. I say, it’s merely a well produced video on the web. I’m led to believe it may be enjoyed by first time visitors to the site, if they can even find the thing, and that’s about it. Nothing terribly special.
I replaced the previous, less updated sidebar links with… More links! This time they’re of the frequently updated variety, as they aren’t specific to a single category. Prior, they were limited to “art” and “CSS” bookmarks, now they’re anything I deem worthy. So when I’m not updating the site, rest assured - the links will be piling up. They’re being pulled from Delicious, which used to require a cumbersome WordPress plugin, but now needs only a one time copy & paste, thanks to linkrolls. Suggest links by tagging them with “for:soupenvy”.
We launched the new etnies Girl site this week. Still a few things to do. There’s a few comments about the new site on CSS Beauty and The Colab.
