Force your windows based internet explorer into rendering standard code properly…
Anyone have any good examples of the best possible solution for Horizontal Rule consistency? CSS margins (or padding) on HR’s are pretty inconsistent, while the mac IE 5 backslash hack isn’t worth adding a class to each and every HR on a site…
Oh yeah – I need an apple pro (or comparable) keyboard if anyones got one for sale at a reasonable price. I’m sick of ebay’s skyrocketing prices and need some keys to work again…

Saw the hotly debated Passion of the Christ this week. Somewhat fueled by all the ridiculous hype, (don’t these people understand that it is JUST a movie) I wasn’t expecting much going in, and that’s exactly what I got. I’m thinking, Even if the viewer is really passionate about the main character (Jesus), these sobbing religious masses should have instead been bored to tears with its painful repetition… The plot goes no deeper than “and he suffered”. The one thing the movie does do however, is leave you wanting more information, but what am I supposed to do now? Read the bible? Yeah right.

What’s the server side dealie that enables URL’s with the “www” dropped to return properly? For example: http://upenn.edu/ doesn’t resolve while http://www.upenn.edu/ hooks it up, no problem.
This is probably web dev 101, can anyone point me in the right direction? Possibly the .htaccess file? Perhaps a mod_rewrite?

This morning I called:
(212) VOTE NYC
(212) 797-8800
(212) 886-3800
While I did register to vote in NY in October of 2003, just shy of 4 weeks before the local elections in November, I showed up at my local polling place & it was a no-go. OK, so maybe I didn’t register soon enough. With the primaries in NY approaching (March 2) I wanted to make sure I was able to cast my ballot. After each operator routed my calls to each of the 3 numbers above, it’s been determined: my “registration didn’t stick” Apparently, you’ve got to REALLY want to vote, and register several times, several months in advance to be eligible.
I’m thinking, well – perhaps I’m still registered in the keystone state, now the search for a PA voter info phone number ensues. I figure, if I can still vote there, I’ll cast my primary ballot in Philadelphia (April 27), then re-register to vote in NY for the presidential election.
I wonder how long it takes to get a gun in NY, I’m guessing 8-10 days if I take the legal route. Just in time for the primaries.
Update – to find out if you’re registered to vote in Philadelphia county, and where to vote if you are, call (215) 686-3460.

We rearranged our “office” last night, building & adding 2 more, very large workspaces – We now have room for about 9 employees. Maybe I’ll start to take work seriously?

The 1962 Buick Special Tom & I drove from Chicago to Philadelphia is once again, for sale on ebay. How good would that be if someone from Chicago bought it, then drove it all the way back. Oh, the irony.
Went to the Modest Mouse show last night at Irving Plaza, super good. The last time I went to Irving Plaza was to see Pennywise in 1994, where we had to buy scalped tickets for $60 a piece, and then walked around NY for hours looking for some weed. Good times, good times. Ten years later, we bought our tickets in advance & at face value. Plus my pot days are long gone.

The other day I abruptly woke from a deep sleep with one thought in mind. I must buy an ipod. I made my way to the nearest internet connection and pulled up apple.com/ipod. While I waded my way past those ridiculous mini ipods, I had a moment to reflect on my current financial hardships. $21,000 in school loans, a few hundred on low interest credit cards and a few more owed to friends and family (the check’s in the mail, I swear). More importantly, I had a moment to reflect on what a disaster the mini ipod must be. For $50 more, I can get HOW MUCH more? 10 gigs more? Well, you know – It’s still a couple hundred out of my impulse buying price range, I think I’ll go back to bed. Nice work apple, nice work.

Instructions on installing multiple versions of IE on a PC exist, but I can’t get it to work. Anyone out there doing this already? Older browsers are available for download on evolt.org’s site by the way.
My recent upgrade to OS X panther has rendered my second monitor inoperable. It appears as 640 x 480 w/ 256 greys, and none of the existing hacks have been successful. I’m having a bad experience with panther overall, it feels sluggish as all hell, it’s latest expose “feature” and new finder itself are once again – clunky and unuseful. I’m feeling deep embarrassment for apple, all this on a single monitor…

Around the holidays no one wants to get any web work done; although Dale & I did recently launch downtoearthhoboken.com, his hoboken boutiques’ site, in time for black Friday. Transparent PNG’s was the way to go for the little colored square overlays, but IE 6 pc is’nt having them which means – while they’re terribly useful, they won’t become mainstream for at least another 5 years. Back to the old school. This bit on CSS vertical centering seems to be the fail safe option.
