Nice Garnish, the most comprehensive database of garnish imagery, with a kick, is going strong. Tell your friends.

I added a couple of new boxes on the bottom of the ghettocooler homepage, the first being my “Amazing Friend Space“. In this space I take my 9 internet friends and highlight the top 8. If I forgot you, click the “Add Me as a Friend” button.

I also added an “Amazings Internet Works Space” where I put images with links to the sites I spend most of my time working on. It’s actually quite boring & is completely unnecessary, but I do like the way the logos look. Enjoy.

Oh yeah – awhile ago I added a little flaming folder next to the title of the post if it has 2 or more comments. This indicates that the post is on fire, and you should probably comment too.

With haveboard in mind, I threw together a little style sheet switcher that when clicked will change between low contrast colors, and some higher contrast ones. Give the style switcher a shot and see which one you prefer. There’s a permanent home for it in the bottom left corner as well. Feedback is welcomed.

This kind of makes me want to make a couple of different color schemes for you to choose from.

Update: I like the higher contrast one so much, I made it the default.

I’ve made a few layout changes. There’s now lots of floating boxes, and less stuff going on. If you see anything out of place, or have any suggestions, leave a comment or hit me up on IM.

I’m trying to figure out the best font scenario for the dates & titles (H3′s). So far this seems to be the best on my PC and mac:

font-family: ‘Futura Medium’, ‘Futura Heavy’, Futura, Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif;

My windows version of plain Futura looks like junk so I added in those first two fonts, which seems to work on my setup. Do you get anything similar to these screenshots?

Mac Firefox:

Windows Firefox:

Windows IE (7):

Windows Internet Explorer (7)

I replaced the previous, less updated sidebar links with… More links! This time they’re of the frequently updated variety, as they aren’t specific to a single category. Prior, they were limited to “art” and “CSS” bookmarks, now they’re anything I deem worthy. So when I’m not updating the site, rest assured – the links will be piling up. They’re being pulled from Delicious, which used to require a cumbersome WordPress plugin, but now needs only a one time copy & paste, thanks to linkrolls. Suggest links by tagging them with “for:soupenvy”.

Awhile back, I tried to do a sketch-a-day site, uploading a new sketch, you guessed it – every day. It lasted about 30 days.

I thought this time I’d try something a little different and only put up “finished” pieces of art, or as I prefer to call it – fart. Then I’d blatently ask for your money. Believe it or not, 2 of them have already sold! I’m sitting on a cool $45 cause of it! Now it’s your turn to spend your money. Extremely low offers are encouraged!

There’s a couple of entries in there that aren’t things for sale, I’m still working out the format a bit, read sweaterbox – WTF if you’re really that interested.

We’re trying out the latest version of Foxxyz’ Flickr Photo Comments plugin on the éS blog in a post titled “photo mixup: Scuba Steve“. Kids can edit a photo and upload it to their Flickr accounts, tagged with (the combination of) specific words. Each photo will then appear as a comment, automagically.

The latest version of the plugin even checks to see if the photo is no longer availble on Flickr, and if it isn’t, changes the comments’ status from ‘approved’ to ‘moderated’ within wordpress. This way the comments will moderate themselves, to some degree. In the future, it’d be nice to download the photos and host them ourselves.

Taken from a photoshop file I’ve had sitting around for quite some time, I decided to spend some evenings after work, and mornings before, on getting something (anything) different online. By different I mean Exactly the same as every other BLOG on the web, but different for me to look at. I really just wanted to get my del.icio.us links in a sidebar here (and soon Flickr), so this is what it took. For now It’s just pulling links tagged “css” and “design”. You’ll notice that there are some duplicates because these tags tend to overlap. It’s a del.icio.us WordPress plugin, slightly modified to get specific tags. It needs to be better, and soon will be, as soon as I get someone who knows what they’re doing to take a look at it.

Feel free to leave comments on how ghetto things are (Comment links are now above the post, directly below the title).

I was fully fed up with using movable type to manage this site, so I finally switched it up to word press. It’s super simple to install, and a cinch to use it on an existing mySQL database (my web host only allows one). The hardest part was getting old URL’s to redirect to the proper spots, but most of the errors involved removing quotes & parenthesis from titles… and say goodbye to the adminz section (in the immediate future anyway).
