Best movie Everrrrr.
Wow! Simply amazing. Beautiful music, beautiful story, subtle yet profound. Loved it.
Wow. Fantastic movie. Loved it, instant classic.
Thrilling & enthralling. Clive Owen is a great actor. Some minor hokey moments can be overlooked. The camera work in the climax will have you squirming in your seat. Well done. This is the film of the year; the film of the last couple years actually.
Wow, here's an interesting guy. If you've never seen this, you really must. Ben Kingsley won an oscar for his portrayal of Mohandas Gandhi, a great indian Leader who led civil disobedience movements in South Africa and his native India. The film is an amazing portrayal of an amazing man, whose influence and love is fealt in this representation. Not to dumb it up, but a few quotes, or more likely misquotes by me, from Mohandas Gandhi. His words are extremely relevant today, and likely will be for quite some time. "An eye for an eye just leaves everyone blind". "I am muslim, I am Hindu, I am christian, I am a Jew. You are as well. By waving that flag, you send fear into the hearts of your brothers".
This is a great documentary. "An extraordinary boatyard, the Gannon and Benjamin Marine Railway, located on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, is about to build a ship of a lifetime."
Wow, this is my new movie of the year. A definite must see. Great history lesson, great story, great filmmaking. A must see!
Very close to a 5, on a 5 star scale, or a 24.9 on a 25 star scale. Two thumbs up, way up. Easily the best movie of the year. It does have it%u2019s awkward moments, like all the camera time cell phones get, but is jammed packed with fine performances, clever dialogue and spine tingling suspense. As much as Jackass should have been clips on you tube, The Departed is made for the silver screeen.
Super good. Fired on all fronts. Amateur actors performed as old school pros. Very interesting story. Must see.
Loved this movie!
Saw with Poppi, IN the theaters!
Wow, great stuff.
Very funny at times, annoying at others. Over all, quite good though.
Great film. A must see, new classic. Loved it.
Loved Ratatouille. Check it out.
Very good. Super interesting, all around super good film, watch this one.
Great movie, loved this one. First HD movie I watched on my HD DVD player. Great extras as well. Must see.
Very, very funny. Great comedy - much raunchier than I expected. Not as clever as a 'Clerks', but still pretty witty.
What a great movie. Great script, great concept, fabulous acting - certainly a must see.
Awesome flick, very suspenseful & enough action & mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat. A must see.
great film. Spectacular Performances, great screenplay.
Wow, this film is quite amazing. I had heard so much about it & none of it covered the wrap around story, which is also really quite good.
Very good film. Great performances, thoroughly entertaining.
Great movie. I'm convinced, this is a genuine Jackson Pollock, and the art community are snobs. Great film, must see.
Great movie. A must see, for sure.
Pretty lengthy, but quite good. Alejandro Gonz?lez I??rritu really knows what he's doing behind the camera. Lots of photography on film added to the films appeal. Good movie, good acting, watch this one.
Certainly a must see. Very engaging documentary.
This documentary tugged at every single heart string in my body. Very, very good.
Cold Mountain stars Jude Law, Nicole kidman & Renee Zellweger with many surprising appearances by some very recognizable faces such as Phillip Seymore Hoffman. It's Homer's Odyssey, loosely packaged in a Civil War setting and is really quite spectacular. I had never had any interest at all in seeing this, but am very glad I did. I'll be recommending it to anyone who will listen in the near future.
United 93 is more about facts than I ever imagined. It's loaded with lots of information from air traffic control & military centers around the US. It's a fascinating portrayal of what likely happened on United 93. It's quite terrifying at times as you are freshly aware of the outcome. Great, informed portrayal with little to no fluff.
I was never too interested in seeing this movie, then I heard some people talk about how good it is, and added it to my netflix queue. I was glad I did. Thank You For Not Smoking is completely original, which is very hard to come by. Great script, great acting with Aaron Eckhart as Nick Naylor, the lobbyist for Big Tabacco. Very funny, must see.
If you grew up skateboarding, you'll need to see this movie. Went to the premiere at Quicksilver, excellent movie. Skateboarding history overload. The only bad part was after the movie, Christian hosoi himself began preaching about God, our lord & savior. Was embarrased for him.
Really quite good, lots better than I thought it would be. Cars & car chases aren't really that cool in general, but with Death Proof, you don't have to care about either to enjoy this.
Great film. I wasn't looking too forward to it at all, with all that hype & the kind of weird looking effects. I was greatly suprised, this film is a real gem!
A tad slow at times, but overall entertaining.
Quality stuff right here. Got psyched to watch this after Daniel Craig as Bond of course.
Wow, this new 007 was super sweet. Loved it.
The depiction of war in this film is absolutely amazing. Clint Eastwood exercises restraint, in particular in a scene where a soldier who was captured by the Japanese was discovered, brutally tortured. Eastwood refused to show the body, and let our imaginations go to work. Maybe it's his age & length of stay in tinsletown, but I was very glad to see him avoid showing the body. Our imagination works better than any movie makeup. He did make up for it though, with a couple of cheesy hollywood-esque sap scenes, but by this point those were easily over looked. This film is a must see!
Sherry baby has you cheering her on in her struggle with drugs, alcohol & dysfunctional family. She gets naked too, which doesn't hurt.
The Matador completely came out of the blue, surprising me as a great little movie. Lots of witty dialogue keep pierce Bronson and Greg Kinnear on point, keeping the story rolling right along, and keeping me very interested. Watch this movie.
I thought this film was well acted, written & executed. A touching movie about death.
Quite good at showing an ordinary day in the ordinary lives of a few teenagers. Interesting people from different walks of life represent the 12 students and one teacher who were tragically killed at Columbine High School in 1998.
I have to admit, based on the trailers alone I wasn't too hyped to go see this film. Throw the release of "The Illusionist" in the mix too, and you've got yourself two magician movies of little interest. Or so I thought. It turns out this is a great piece of filmaking. It made me desire to return to those magic lessons I was taking at the age of thirteen, and single handly turn back the clock to perform in this era of showmanship & theatrics. The costumes & sets are phenomenal, ushering in a time before the technology that saps us today. Where's my top hat? I'm headed out to see The Professor perform his Transported Man. What a trick, quite the movie.
I wonder if there's any men who watch this and route for the oil company? Good movie.
Pretty good. I don't know that it's as wonderful as "the academy" has said, but is a very good movie nonetheless.
A bit slower than I was expexting, considering all the amazing reviews it had. Still, pretty darn funny. The first real 'womens comedy' as far as I can tell.
Holy smokes. If you have a daughter, you will be on the verge of tears for ~90% of this emotional documentary about a father's relationship with his daughter.
Oddly gory, and a bit strange altogether.
Much better than was given credit. Great action scenes, lots of fun.
Amazing concepts still hold water. Special effects are naturally, fun to laugh at. Jeff Bridges early days.
Great show, will really make you want to buy a motorcycle and travel. From IMDB: "This documentary series follows actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman on a motorcycle trip around the world."
I hate, hate, hate marketing. This satire on the practice of the grossly invasive sell is pretty darn right on.
Very funny stuff along w/ an interesting true tale. Jim Carey at his best.
Love me some documentaries. Great stuff here.
Great movie. Nothing can compare to the original, but still a great storyline & well done film.
Wow, what a fantastic movie! I thought this was simply a great movie, tons of fun. Great story, great everything.
Very interesting documentary on crossword puzzle players and creators. Tomorrow I will do the Monday NY Times crossword.
Pretty entertaining, nothing amazing. Decent acting, forced twist ending isn't as suprising as they think it is.
This flick is actually entertaining. A bit boring at times, but there's something about these court movies I always liked.
A ton rode on the acting in this movie. Shia LaBeouf did a fabulous job. If not for him, I thin this could have been a B flick, at best. This is a should see.
Any comedy fan should watch this movie. Very informative, very funny people.
Great movie. A must see, for sure. Very inventive & original. A real slice of solid film making.
Everyone should watch this movie. You hear of the existance of these types of people, but it's entirely different watching them behave in the way they do.
Very good. Check this one out. Good performances all around.
Very interesting look at Princess Dianna's death. Susan thought it was a bit boring, which I can see at times, but very much worth watching.
Little slow at times, but a good story. Makes you want to read some Bukowski, of course. Watch this one.
Very good. You should watch this. Accurate portrayal of drug use, I would think.
Heyyy YO. Way better than I thought it'd be.
Not bad, I saw this real life story on 60 minutes, or some related news magazine show. The movie went a bit over the top I think, but is still pretty good. I also don't like that permanent down trodden look on Robin Williams face.
Something about it is kind of interesting, but not really. Will Ferrel is good in this kind of role, but there's something seriously lacking.
Black Dahlia is way better than the movie review sites would lead you to believe. Not spectacular, but very engaging & entertaining. This coming from someone who thinks josh Hartnett is a douch bag too!
No matter how cute Julia Styles is, she can't save this strange film. It's not awful, but something is missing.
Gridiron Gang was much better than I was expecting. It had some interesting camera at times, for a big budget film. Good story, if a bit cheesy, still worth watching.
Pretty funny movie, some sets & scenes were almost too outlandish, but they fit pretty well. This movie only opened in 9 theatres in the US I heard. Amazing. It deserved better than that.
Frank Gehry is an amazing architect. I knew nothing about this man, but Im vey glad I learned.
While not quite what I was expecting, likely due to my lack of fashion sense, The Devil Wears Prada is quite entertaining. There's some funny moments & the whole thing is well written, it deserves the praise it has received.
I never saw the original Poseidon Adventure or read the book, however I've always said Lost at sea movies are the best. This is one of them. Sure it's hokey and unrealistic at times, but boy is it fun! When I found out one of the actresses (jacida Barrett) got her start on MTV's Real World, I still wasn't disappointed enough to downgrade my excitement. There's one scene where Kurt Russel leads his crew through an air duct that is slowly filling with water only to discover they are trapped by a vent at the top. Drowning & tight places are so terrifying, I was physically uncomfortable, cringing at the thought. If it's entertainment you seek, rent this movie.
Very good. Great animation, I heard it was all stop motion. Claymation? Puppets? I'm not sure & I know I could easily find out, but I'm not going to right now. It's a good movie and I see no reason why anyone shouldn't see it. No rush though.
Interesting, good story, god movie
Not too bad, nothing special
I've never listened to Brian Jones Town Massacre or the Dandy Warhols, so I knew very little about these bands before watching the movie. It was quite good, lots of behind the scenes rock & roll of course, and very entertaining. Anton Newcombe is a total nutcase.
Quite good. I would have liked to some of the stories more fleshed out, but better than most, nonetheless.
Very, very good. Original & entertaining. Some say it's better than the latest star Wars movies. I tend to agree, if it were'nt for Star Wars' storied history.
OK but pretty darn pointless.
Way better than you would think! Funny, original & surprisingly well crafted.
Very informative documentary on Ralph Nader. Contained good reporting with stories from both sides of the camp, when it was necessary.
Slightly funny, mostly stupid.
This is an OK movie. The subject matter isn't terribly interesting & that's a slight problem.
Pretty boring, had it's funny moments, but there wasn't much there in the long haul.
Depsite this not being a great movie, it was pretty entertaining. An interesting portrayel, if unrealistic, of sports gambling. Paccino & Matthew McConaughey could have phoned it in, but they're pretty good. I wish they didnn't cram morals down my throat either.
As bad as this movie was, it is what it is supposed to be. Action packed and 3 or 4 notches above a Steven Seagal popcorn flick to bit. Not a must see, but certainly an entertaining romp.
Not bad, a bit creepy at times. Worth watching.
Pretty good, some of the stuff was really cheezy & I wasn't too into it. Not as "powerful" as everyone else thinks. Good stuff though.
Pretty good. Too much singing. Very interesting & engaging story, but something really didn't do it for me.
Funny stuff right here.
Entertaining, but ultimately a waste of time. Jack Bauer strayed real far from hi usual role. NOT.
Not bad. One woman in the park scenes acting was SO terrible it nearly ruined this film. A bit lengthy as well.
Pretty boring. Interesting visuals.
Kind of funny. Very funny at times, mediocre most of the time.
Oscar nomination worthy? I don't think so. Good story & easy to watch, not half bad, but not all that special.
Taladega wasnt nearly as bad as I was expecting. I've heard some bad things, but this was actually quite funny. The only problem I had with it was Sasha Baron Cohens weird accent, but its humor grows on you.
This one got great reviews everywhere I looked. I like Guy Pierce too, so I thought this was a sure fire. It's still OK, I just couldn't really get into it.
The story of Vince Papali is exactly what you'd expect. No surprises here, local boy is good at football, tries out for his favorite team, makes the team. Just because you know exactly what you're going to get, doesn't mean it's not fun. Inspiring story inspired me to look up Vince on Wikipedia!
Lonesome jim is a bit slow, but not half bad. It has some very funny moments. Liv Tyler & Casey Afleck directed by Steve Buscemi.
Only slightly entertaining. I expect more from Harold Ramis.
Cars was a little better than I was expecting. Nowhere near Pixar's earlier stuff. I remember being thrilled by the storyline of Toy Story. Cars doesn't touch that. I guess I haven't been too thrilled with Pixar's other stuff either, Ants was OK, The Incredibles was incredibly overrated, actually now that I think of it, I thoroughly enjoyed Monsters Inc. Throw Cars in the DVD player if you've got kids, or won't mind be mildly entertained by predictable characters and obvious plot. I'm tempted to give it three stars for quality animation, but Im sticking with two on this on.
Actually much better than I expected. Vince Vaughn is very funny. Still just two & a half stars.
This is a watchable movie, good animation, good characters, good story. Lots of name actors behind these voices, the most interesting being Robin Williams as Fender, Greg Kinnear as Ratchet (the main misled bady guy) and Ewan McGregor who plays the lead, Rodney Copperbottom. It's entertaining but not outstanding. Catch it on commercial-less cable.
Not worth watching. I mean, it's not awful, it does have a couple boob shots, but really is quite slow.
Not bad at all. Natalie Portman is attractive. Watchable, but nothing outstanding. Jude Law is pretty annoying.
Pretty strange movie. Kind of interesting, kind of difficult to watch at times, too strange.
Interesting dude, I really think he cared more about himself than the bears. It doesn't seem like he helped them too much either, but just enjoyed being out there. Too long too, not to mention everyone in the movie was weird as hell.
Not bad, I'm not sure I liked the way mos def talked in this movie.
Not too bad. Little boring, was hoping for better.
Not awful. Nothing special though.
Very enjoyable in the beginning, but tapers off into little fun or interest.
Interesting only because it stars the lead singer of Bishop Allen, Justin Rice. Has some funny moments as well.
Susan liked this a bit more than I did. I think it was just overboard on the "artsy" aspect. I was never quite convinced that the kid couldn't just stop stuttering at any moment as well. Not so hot in my opinion.
Not terrible, I've never been a big fan of these ocean movies though. Entertaining enough.
Susan paid more attention to this than I did, so I can't really give it a proper review. But from what I did see, I didn't like too much & it made me not want to catch the movie later.
Interesting concept, just never really pans out. We get the fact that the main character has a great sense of smell pretty early on, so I wish they'd stop cramming that down my throat. There's still something there that's pretty original, along with some good performances & sets & costumes... Just shorten it up a bit and they could have had themselves a much better movie.
Pretty lame. Kevin Smith was actually good though. This thing was better than Clerks 2, that's for sure.
I thought Marie Antoinette was pretty boring. Susan kind of liked it. Sofia Coppola is too freaking BLAH.
I guess they advertised this one as a thug movie so it would sell better. It's not nearly as thug as you're expecting. Although, if you read the description you'd already know most of it takes place at a roller skating rink called "cascade", then you would've known it's not that thug. There's also nothing special, except a decent performance by "T.I.", whomever that stands for. He's a rapper.
Amy Sedaris is a funny woman. Reading her brother, David Sedaris's books, makes you feel like you know her and her family. The entire time watching this I couldn't help but wonder what her dad thinks of the movie. I thought it was alright.
Adam wrote a pretty scathing review of this movie. I didn't think it was terrible, even if it isn't really worth watching.
Long winded & not so entertaining. Had small moments of coherence, but skip this one altogether.
John Cusack always seem to be wearing a Ramones tee shirt & and overcoat. When you're comfortable, you stick with it. He's comfortable in these romantic roles, and he does them well. Diane Lane is easy on the eyes, and I like John Cusack. Not a must see, but it's not unwatchable.
Total snooze-fest. Some small, lightly interesting moments, but an overall don't bother.
Not so good. Not terrible, but not really worth watching, unless you're a crazy Chris Rock fan. A few unexpected scenes provide laughs.
How this has a 7.9 on IMDB is beyond me. Don't bother.
Lame. Not worth watching. I fell asleep for most of it.
wow, there's not too many movies that are worse than this. Never see this.
Really, really lame.
Wow, this is bad. Strangley enough - it actually had a few funny moments, provided by Zach Braff & Jason Bateman. It's still not worth it, stay away from this one.
Not very good at all. Don't watch. Will Arnet is a funny guy, but this was a bad choice for him.
No good. Had some very randomly, remotely funny parts. I skipped most of it. Nearly unwatchable.
Boring! Jack Black is the only thing that makes this movie slightly amusing. Skip it.
Worst movie ever. I gave it a chance, because of the Mets & all... but then just ended up sitting through it for the Game 6 highlight reels. Don't watch this movie, even if you are a baseball fan. I imagine the real game 6 can be found online.
I couldn't even finish this thing. I know it's Robert Altmans final film, but I'm not too familiar with his other films anyway. Too much damn singing in Prairie Home Companion. Their radio show isn't that good either, I should've know.
Don't watch it. I sure wish I hadn't.
It's amazing the movies you'll actually sit through when they're in Hi Def. This movie is no good though. J-Lo was more bearable than expected, but still... don't waste your time. I was busy with other things while this was on, I'm happy to say.
wow. how bad can a movie be? This is rock bottom. Unwatchable. I started to watch it, I turned it off. I cant believe IMDB gave it 7/10 and rotten tomatos has it at 82%. Unreal. Don't watch this movie.
awful, awful, awful
What a pile of steaming crap.
Wow, quite possibly the worst movie of the year, if not the last 5 years. Believe it or not - the commentary track w/ Adam Sandler & Kevin James is worth a listen if you're a fan. This doesn't however, change the fact that this movie blew chunks.
Worst movie of the year. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 48%. That's extremely generous. It had potential too, with Michal Mann at the helm. Skip right over this one, I certainly should have.
